Border Trade Alliance – Multi Year Highway Bill
The Border Trade Alliance is committed to advancing policies that help facilitate the movement of commerce from point of origin to point of destination.
For several years the BTA has advocated for the adoption of a long term highway bill that reflects the critical needs of the U.S. – Canada and U.S. – Mexico border regions. Through our well established political networks, the BTA in 2015 worked to include language in the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act that will lead to dramatic improvements in the nation’s transportation infrastructure, with a particular emphasis on the border region.
The BTA worked with a bipartisan coalition in Congress to include language in the FAST Act that gives border state governors the flexibility they need to use federal transportation dollars on border region infrastructure projects that are so crucial to alleviating the bottlenecks around our ports of entry as freight makes its way on to U.S. highways.
We also worked with our friends on Capitol Hill to ensure that the federal government properly defines trade corridors as beginning and ending at land ports of entry, while also securing funding for connection to the interstate highway system.
The Border Trade Alliance helped deliver a pro-trade, pro-border highway bill for members that reflects our regions’ unique needs.
